Some time after his bike was built up, I asked Davide (Dark Energy frame) to send me a few comments and his impressions.

I thank him for his kindness and for what he wanted to write. Here is his email, almost in full: I have only removed the strictly personal parts.

Hi Vincenzo,
what a pleasure to hear from you. Of course I am very, very happy to have photos of the frame on your website: I will have them taken as soon as possible, but in the meantime here are my answers to your questions.

I found Vincenzo by searching the internet. A friend advised me to buy a steel frame and to look for something in England (the home of steel) or for something exclusive in Italy. As soon as I opened Vincenzo's website it was love at first sight: I told myself "this is what I'm looking for" and I didn't look any further. The appeal of a made-to-measure frame is unmatched: in shops you can buy frames made for everyone that in the end fit nobody; with a Forgione frame you own a tailor-made suit. That is a big difference, and you feel it from the first pedal strokes!

The frame Vincenzo built is a work of art. The brazed joints are sanded so perfectly that they give the lines an extraordinary continuity. It is as light as a carbon frame, and Vincenzo managed to combine the strength of steel with modern lines, choosing together with me tubes with the most incredible sections and shapes. I will never tire of saying that these frames are state of the art.

The main feature of my Forgione frame is certainly its lightness. Despite being steel, the first time I rode it, it literally "flew" along the roads I was used to riding with my old bike. The comfort is extraordinary too: after dozens and dozens of kilometres I arrive without a single ache.

I fitted a Campagnolo groupset because I wanted an all-Italian bike, and my impression is that Vincenzo's frame gets the best out of every component, all working in perfect harmony.

Would I recommend a Forgione frame to a friend? Absolutely! Not just to a friend: every time I stop on the road I recommend it to the dozens of cyclists who don't know it, and they are amazed when they lift my bike and I tell them it is a steel frame.

There you go, my friend: talk soon about the photos! A hug to all of you from all of us.

Davide
