Polaris

The Forgione Polaris is a custom-made steel bicycle frame developed to integrate modern technical standards within a traditional handcrafted construction. Every design choice is driven by functional, structural, and durability criteria, aiming to deliver a high-performance, reliable frame perfectly tailored to the rider.

This project was conceived for SRAM wireless electronic groupsets and features internal routing for the rear hydraulic brake hose. To ensure proper hose routing, reduce localized stress, and improve serviceability, Vincenzo Forgione designed and handcrafted a T47 stainless steel bottom bracket shell, produced entirely in his workshop.

The T47 standard combines the torsional stiffness of an oversized threaded bottom bracket with the precision and long-term reliability of steel, making it a technically coherent solution for a high-end custom steel frame.

The frame structure is built using a carefully selected combination of Columbus SPIRIT and LIFE tubing, butt-matched according to the expected loads in each section of the frame. Joining is performed using low-temperature Silver Fillet Brazed technique, which preserves the mechanical properties of the tubing, limits thermal distortion, and ensures structural continuity with refined finishes.

From a riding perspective, the result is a frame offering an optimized balance between stiffness, vibration damping, and handling precision, while retaining the distinctive ride quality of high-grade steel.

The custom paint finish, developed according to the client’s design and specifications, completes the project, making the Forgione Polaris a fully unique frame, both in geometry and aesthetics.
